Building Regulations
All recycled and refurbished modular buildings supplied by Foremans comply with the current Building Regulations, including AD L2A 2006.
The Government has accepted that modular and portable buildings have unique energy efficiency properties and this is recognised and approved in the latest document L2A 2006, which refers to the second tier document.
Energy Performance Standards for Modular and Portable Buildings.
A More Sustainable Method of Construction
The use of recycled modular buildings is a more environmentally friendly method of construction and a practical alternative to the demolition and disposal of traditionally-built buildings in land fill sites.
The unique characteristics of modular and relocatable buildings, is that the embodied energy required for their manufacture is transportable.
Where a modular building is relocated with minimal alteration, the amount of energy used is less than 3 per cent of that required to manufacture an equivalent new building.
Even when the portable building is refurbished and reconfigured internally, the energy used is no more than 10 per cent of the energy compared to a new building.
This makes the Foremans approach one of the most sustainable methods of construction - reducing carbon emissions and energy use.
